MediaTek Dimensity CX C10 Max Targets Premium Googlebooks – AndroidGuys

MediaTek has announced the Dimensity CX C10 Max, the first system-on-chip in its new Dimensity Compute Experiences, or CX, family. The flagship processor is headed for an upcoming premium, ultra-portable Googlebook, pairing an eight-core CPU and 11-core GPU with dedicated AI hardware designed for Gemini-powered computing.

Built using TSMC’s 3nm process, the C10 Max uses what MediaTek calls an All Big Core CPU design. The company is positioning the chip for demanding laptop workloads spanning productivity, multitasking, entertainment, and AI assistance.

MediaTek says its power-efficient architecture can support thinner, lighter, fanless computers with all-day battery life. Actual battery figures will depend on the devices built around the processor, so there is no runtime number attached to that claim yet.

AI Takes Center Stage With 55 TOPS

A major piece of the C10 Max is MediaTek’s eighth-generation NPU 890, rated for up to 55 TOPS of AI performance.

The neural processor is designed to handle Gemini Intelligence features locally, which MediaTek says can improve response times and provide added privacy benefits by keeping more AI processing on the device. The company is targeting agentic AI workloads in particular, alongside the more familiar productivity and assistance tasks expected from AI-focused laptops.

For buyers, the interesting part may be less about the TOPS scoreboard and more about what laptop makers can do with that performance without turning a thin computer into a tiny space heater.

Camera Hardware Gets Some Attention Too

The C10 Max includes MediaTek’s Imagiq 1090 image signal processor, with support for camera sensors up to 32MP.

MediaTek says the AI-assisted ISP can handle HDR video capture, smooth video zoom, cinematic video, and sustained focus. Those capabilities are aimed at improving video calls, livestreaming, and content creation, areas where built-in laptop cameras have historically left plenty of room for improvement.

Wi-Fi 7 And Bluetooth 6.0 Come Along For The Ride

Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 with speeds up to 7.3Gbps, along with dual-engine Bluetooth 6.0 for peripherals and audio devices. MediaTek specifically points toward busy wireless environments as one area where the faster Wi-Fi implementation could prove useful.

The Dimensity CX C10 Max gives MediaTek a new flagship computing platform beyond its familiar smartphone territory, combining its CPU, graphics, connectivity, imaging, and AI technologies in one laptop-focused package.

The first premium ultra-portable Googlebook powered by the processor has been confirmed, but MediaTek’s release does not provide a product name, manufacturer, price, or availability date. Those details will have to come later.
