iPhone 17 to have scratch-resistant anti-reflective display glass like the Galaxy S24 Ultra

If you’ve spent any time on tech-related websites, you’re likely aware of the ongoing debate around Apple’s innovations and the perceived imitations by Android manufacturers like Samsung. Today, a surprising rumor has emerged that challenges this notion. It appears that Apple is drawing inspiration from Samsung’s anti-reflective Gorilla Glass Armor, as seen in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, for their upcoming iPhone 17 in 2025.

iPhone 15 vs. Galaxy S24 Ultra reflections

The iPhone 17’s glass is said to be more scratch-resistant than the current Ceramic Shield and will feature an anti-reflective layer, similar to eyeglasses or mechanical watches. While this technology won’t be ready for the iPhone 16 lineup due to supply chain constraints, Apple seems poised to emulate Samsung’s approach in the near future.

This new glass technology, dubbed Gorilla Glass Armor by Samsung, is claimed to reduce reflections by 75% and offer superior scratch resistance compared to other solutions in the market.

Despite potentially sourcing this glass from Corning, Apple is expected to brand it as something unique, perhaps under the name Ceramic Shield Ultimate. This tactic is reminiscent of Apple’s previous partnership with Corning for the original Ceramic Shield, leading to speculation about the true extent of Apple’s innovation in this space.
