The Epic Games Store is coming to iOS and Android later this year
Epic has officially announced that its Games Store will be coming to iOS and Android later this year. This store, known as EGS, currently offers an alternative to Steam on Windows.
Epic promises fair terms for all developers on its multi-platform store, allowing them to keep 88% of their revenue while Epic takes 12%. In comparison, Google charges a 15% fee on the first $1 million in revenue, and a high 30% afterwards.
Epic also mentions that developers have the option to retain 100% of their revenue if they use their own payment methods for in-app purchases.
Details about the store’s appearance on Android and the available games remain unknown, other than Fortnite, which is currently distributed through the Epic Games Launcher.
The situation on iOS is less clear following Apple’s decision to initially shut down Epic’s developer account, only to reinstate it two days later due to an EU order. Nevertheless, Epic remains committed to launching its Games Store on iOS.
